Het Microsoft  Exchange Team heeft 3 video’s online gezet over hoge beschikbaarheid in
Exchange 2010.

Deel 1 wordt het concept verteld over de database mobiliteit en de functies van  database availability groups (DAGs) en mailbox database copies.

In deel 2 wordt verteld hoe je een database availability groups (DAGs) aan maakt en hoe je een Mailbox servers toevoegt aan een DAG.

Deel 3 wordt gedemonstreerd hoe er een database copy wordt gecreëerd. Ook wordt er gedemonstreerd wat Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus en Test-ReplicationHealth doet.

    SP2 voor Exchange 2007 heb je nodig wil je upgraden naar Exchange 2010
    Mocht je de SP2 niet willen installeren er komen nog een jaar lang updates uit voor Exchange 2007 SP1 na de release van SP2.

  • Enhanced Auditing – New Exchange auditing events and audit log repository enable Exchange administrators to more easily audit the activities occurring on their Exchange servers. It allows the right balance of granularity, performance, and easy access to audited events via a dedicated audit log repository. This simplifies the auditing process and makes review of audited events easier by segregating audited events in a dedicated location.
  • Exchange Volume Snapshot Backup Functionality – A new backup plug-in has been added to the product that will enable customers to create Exchange backups when a backup is invoked through the Windows Server 2008 Backup tool. Exchange Server 2007 didn’t have this capability on Windows Server 2008 and additional solutions were required to perform this task.
  • Dynamic Active Directory Schema Update and Validation – The dynamic AD schema update and validation feature allows for future schema updates to be dynamic deployed as well as proactively preventing conflicts whenever a new property is added to the AD schema. Once this capability is deployed it will enable easier management of future schema updates and will prevent support issues when adding properties that don’t exist in the AD schema.
  • Public Folder Quota Management – SP2 enables a consistent way to manage quotas by improving the current PowerShell cmdlets to perform quota management tasks.
  • Centralized Organizational Settings – SP2 introduces new PowerShell option that enable centralized management of many of the Exchange organization settings.
  • Named Properties cmdlets – SP2 enables Exchange administrators to monitor their named property usage per database.
  • New User Interface for Managing Diagnostic Logging– SP2 enables Exchange administrators to easily configure and manage diagnostic logging from within the Exchange Management Console.

      •    Server meerdere rollen naast elkaar kunnen bestaan op servers die een hoge beschikbaarheid.  Hierdoor kunnen kleine organisaties om een twee-server configuratie biedt volledige redundantie van gegevens mailbox, terwijl ook overbodig Client Access en Hub Transport diensten.

      •     Een beheerder niet langer nodig voor het bouwen van een failover-cluster met het oog op een hoge beschikbaarheid.  Failover clusters worden nu gemaakt door Exchange 2010 op een manier die is onzichtbaar voor de beheerder.  In tegenstelling tot eerdere versies van Exchange-clusters, die in een Exchange-voorwaarde cluster resource DLL vernoemd ExRes.dll, Exchange 2010 niet meer nodig of maakt gebruik van een cluster resource DLL.  Exchange 2010 maakt gebruik van slechts een klein gedeelte van de failover cluster componenten, te weten, haar hartslag vermogens en het cluster database, om in de database mobiliteit.

      •     Beheerders kunnen toevoegen hoge beschikbaarheid van hun Exchange-omgeving na Exchange 2010 is ingezet, zonder Exchange verwijderen en vervolgens opnieuw te implementeren in een zeer beschikbaarheid configuratie.

      •     Exchange 2010 biedt een weergave van het evenement stroom die de gebeurtenissen van het besturingssysteem met de gebeurtenissen van Exchange.

      •     Omdat opslag groep objecten die niet meer bestaan in Exchange 2010, en omdat mailbox databanken draagbare alle Exchange 2010 Mailbox servers, het is zeer gemakkelijk te verplaatsen databases als dat nodig is.

    Microsoft heeft de handleidingen voor Installatie van Exchange 2007 aangepast en er is zelfs een nieuwe artikel bijgekomen: Installation Guide Template – Cluster Continuous Replication (Windows 2008)

    De volgende dingen zijn aangepast aan de Transport Installatie Handleidingen
    – Hoe de tijdelijke Storage Path aan te passen.
    – Hoe je database cache grootte kunt aanpassen als je 4GB of meer geheugen voor de  
      Exchange server beschikbaar is.
    – Hoe je optionele ESE performance punten kunt toevoegen.

    De lijst met aanbevelen hot-fixen is bijgewerkt.
    Het tunen van virtueel geheugen is ook bijgewerkt.
